THE MAYOR'S OFFICIAL ROBE

The Mayor's robe is made from the finest quality wool and is trimmed with artificial fur. The sleeves are also trimmed with artificial fur and a band of yellowish gold colored velvet. The robes are worn with a lace jabot at the neck, lace cuffs worn on black sleeves and white cotton gloves. The Mayor also wears “Songkok” which is a traditional cap worn by Islamic males in Malaysia. Together with this outfit, the Mayor also wears a chain with a badge around his neck. The chains are made of sterling silver enameled, and are gold plated. The robe is said to be brought from England as it was adopted from the British Mayors dress code.
